The Royal navy has an excellent skills base and military equipment can be easily converted for civilian use. We can SAVE OUR SAILORS jobs and indeed increase their pay and improve working conditions. As an RMT member I am for the good of the UK and this means we need the very BEST public transport network in the world. All our sailors can have a job, better than in the Royal Navy, sailing the same ships but for civilians. We can convert the ARK ROYAL to passenger use with a giant sunlounge and football field on the flight deck, which can also be used for paragliding. I am totally serious and you can see in Portsmouth that Brittany Ferries have got an excellent Naval crew ready for action on the high seas but during peacetime the ships are used as passenger ferries sailing to France and Spain. It is quite simple and I am happy to work for this. My goal is to SAVE our SAILORS jobs and achieve the very best public transport network in the UK:OK so we will have all Royal naval ships redeployed as coastal cruisers connecting at the UK piers for passengers to change onto local bus services and the new Bright Rail services. The RMT union is extending the Northern line to Harwich and on to Esbjerg and by DSB train to Copenhagen where there is a DSB train on to Stockholm for the sailing to Saint Petersburg. The Russian navy is operating the ships on the Baltic and on to Japan from their naval base at Vladivostok. So this is a message to all sailors: WORLD PEACE AND INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP join us and keep your Royak Navy ships afloat and in the UK registry as merchant marine passenger ships. I am often in Portsmouth and you are all welcome to email me and we can meet up and talk this over, because Portsmouth is GREAT and our heroes deserve a Bright future not a P45. UK:OK for good !
